INDEPENDENT PRODUCT · EARLY DEVELOPMENT

Lore

A private iPhone diary for the things you want to remember: a few words, a photograph or a spoken thought, with optional AI to help turn a month of entries into a story in your own voice.

Very early daysPrivate iPhone build
Role
Product concept, visual direction and hands-on delivery of the first native iPhone app and supporting AI service.
Maturity boundary
Very early days: a private development build, not a public release. The current iPhone version uses local storage and export, without iCloud backup. The AI service is not hosted, and fuller device, accessibility and story-quality testing remain ahead.

FIRST NATIVE INTERFACE

What would you like to remember?

Early build · Simulator captureThe Today screen from the native iPhone simulator, showing an empty diary. This is the first working interface; Lore is still in private development and is not available to download.

CONTEXT

Lore explores a simple way to notice and remember everyday life. A sentence, a photograph or a dictated thought should be enough, without a streak to maintain or an audience to write for.

MY CONTRIBUTION

I shaped the diary around three places: Today, Your diary and Your stories. The first implementation brings together local writing, photographs, export and restoration, with optional questions and monthly stories that keep the original entries intact.

WHAT IS TRUE NOW

A first private build was installed and launched on my iPhone in October 2026, and an entry was confirmed to survive closing and reopening the app. The AI service has passed local checks with invented entries; it has not been deployed.

  • A little is enough
  • Keep the original words
  • AI is optional

THE IDEA

Remember a little, in your own way.

Lore carries the paper backgrounds and strong typography of My Little List and Here Now into a quieter space for writing. Cream, ink, sage and lilac give the diary a simple visual character, with room to read.

There are no streaks, scores or social features. You can write, use the iPhone keyboard's dictation or keep a photograph. A question is there when you want help beginning.

OPTIONAL AI

Let the story stay yours.

The monthly-story feature is intended to draw a few paragraphs from your entries, preserving your phrasing and concrete details. Stories sit separately from the diary, can be edited and link back to their sources. Changing an entry does not silently overwrite a story.

AI starts disabled. Enabling it explains that text and photograph captions are sent for processing; photographs and audio are not uploaded to the AI service. The implementation has been checked with invented entries, while the hosted service and broader story-quality review are still to come.

EVIDENCE & BOUNDARIES

  • Status checked against the project's implementation and verification notes on 15 October 2026. Installation and one observed persistence check do not establish release readiness or wider user validation.
  • The image is an actual simulator capture of an empty diary. It contains no personal entries and is not a photograph of the installed iPhone build.
  • AI integration checks used invented diary entries. Hosted operation, a real iCloud backup-and-restore cycle and broader story fidelity remain unverified.

WHAT I CARRY FORWARD

A beginning, with more to learn.

The next step is to use and test the diary on a real phone: writing, photographs, recovery and accessibility, followed by hosted AI and cloud backup verification. Whether it becomes a useful way to remember everyday life is still an open question.
